Thank you for your interest in our Dance major at Loyola University Chicago. The Bachelor of Arts in Dance offers diverse, rigorous dance training within the context of Loyola’s Ignatian liberal arts curriculum in the service of social justice.

Loyola University Chicago's Bachelor of Arts in Dance requires a two part application process: an application for admission to the University and an application to audition for the major.

Application to the Major

We offer two pathways for entering the Bachelor of Arts in Dance:

Incoming students can audition for the major either on campus or via video
Incoming or current Dance minors can transfer to the major.

All Prospective Dance Majors are required to submit an application linked here.

On campus Audition: Our in-person major audition for academic year 2025-2026 will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Please complete and submit the application and plan to dance both ballet and modern sequences during an exciting day on campus. The application also requires a two-minute solo video in any style and a personal statement.

Video Audition: Please complete and submit an application. Include a ballet foundations video, a two-minute solo video in any style, and a personal statement.

Current Minors: Dance minors who seek to transfer into the Dance major should contact Director of Dance, Sandra Kaufmann at skaufm3@luc.edu to schedule a meeting.

FAQ about the Dance Major Audition

If you are unable to attend the online zoom interviews for Loyola’s BA Dance on March 4, 2023, you may still be eligible for acceptance into the program based on your video material and application information.

It is so important when making this life decision to have as much context as possible. To that end, we recommend a few options to deepen your understanding of our work in Dance at Loyola.

The best option would be to find a time that works for your family to visit Loyola’s Lakeshore Campus. Schedule an in person dance tour HERE.

As part of your application, we request that you please submit a solo on video. Your solo should be:

Choreographed (can be choreographed by yourself or someone else)
Any technique or style you choose
Two minutes long
- If your video is longer than two minutes, we will only consider the first two minutes of the video as part of your application
